About

shift_ed is looking for volunteers to serve as reading tutors for elementary students grades 2-5. We use the HELPS literacy curriculum, which is a structured reading fluency program designed to build student's reading skills and confidence.

Tutors do not need any prior tutoring experience and will receive a virtual training prior to their start date. Tutors can commit to between 1-10 hours per week at a consistent school site in their area, where they will meet with various students one on one for 15-20 minute sessions. There are openings for tutors Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 am - 2:15 pm.

Our goal is to provide schools with tutors that are available for a 2 hour block at least 1 day per week, if possible. During this experience, tutors will serve their community, gain practical and career experience, and demonstrate their leadership skills! We are excited to grow our program and serve our community together!

Please reach out to amandamehl@shift-ed.org if you have any questions or want more information on the opportunity.
