About
This page has been created as a demonstration for training purposes only. It is not a real community service organization.
This "About" section can be edited in the Manage Screen under "Edit Group"
In order to help students know if they can serve with you and how to get started, the Nashman Center recommends your organization's description section include the following:
- What will volunteers DO?
- Schedule. When can students serve? (Ex: afterschool programs require availability from 3:30-6pm. Do you need consistent timing each week?)
- Minimum expectations for amount of time they can serve. (If you need a year commitment or a minimum of 5 hours per week, this may work for some students but not for students serving through a course).
- Background checks. Is one required? What is the process. If DCPS background checks are required, indicate that in bold.
- Location. Note if you are metro accessible, or if serving virtually is an option.
IMPORTANT: Make it clear how to start serving with you! For example, "To start serving with us...
- "Click here to sign up on our website" (provide link)
- "Click the Administrator's contact button in the upper right to reach out by email with your interests"
- "Click on the project options below to register to serve with them"
If you already have a good web presence (how to volunteer is explained on your own website or you already have a platform to manage volunteers online), you do NOT have to also create a space in Givepulse that will need to be constantly updated. Keep this information general and emphasize that the user should link to your primary online space.
