Since 1984, FriendshipWorks has engaged more than 40,000 older adults -- improving social connection, health, and well-being -- by matching them with caring volunteers for friendship and assistance. Our five highly personalized programs are offered in Boston, Brookline, Newton, Somerville, and Cambridge, and are free of charge to adults over 60.
Our volunteers are critical to advancing our mission by accompanying older adults to medical appointments, making weekly visits, or helping them with simple tasks. Volunteers consistently tell us that the experience is mutually beneficial.
