Shift Details

Shift Name♻️ ATX Mushroom Block Delivery
Shift Organizer
Central Texas Mycology
Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • Pick a time and date below. Collection of blocks must be pre-scheduled at 10 am and you must pick a date below. You can't show up anytime because blocks are inside the farm and a staff member must be there to open the gate and unload them in your vehicle. If your plans change please cancel.

  • Once you sign-up and pick a date, we will text and email you a day before your shift with the instructions, safety protocols, directions to the farm and address for drop off at a community site. Please be flexible because sometimes this time changes by a few hours and we will let you know.

  • Block delivery means you pick-up a minimum 50+ blocks in your own vehicle to deliver at least 25 to community pick-up sites closest to you in the Austin area. We encourage you to take extras home with you for gardening and compost projects.

  • Most vehicles including cars and hatchbacks will work and can fit about 75 blocks. Most trucks can fit around 150 blocks. We recommend you use a tarp— it gets messy.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Central Texas Mycological Society partners with a local mushroom farm in North Austin to divert “spent” mushroom blocks from the waste and build healthy soil! There are 2,000+ blocks per week to divert and we need your help to get this mycelium gold building healthy fungal-rich soil!
