Shift Organizer
Immigration Services Harper
Description

This position requires a comfortable fluency in both Spanish and English.  No court or legal interpretation certification is required or necessary, but you should be comfortable discussing legal topics or at least using resources to find legal vocabulary as necessary.  Interpreters are crucial to connecting community legal services needs to our pro bono attorneys that don’t speak Spanish.

Depending on how many other volunteers we have signed up, we may also ask you to play a hybrid interpreter/nonattorney application preparation role.  In this hybrid role, you will also be helping to listen to a client’s story and processes facts relevant to their TPS eligibility and helping sort out the logistics of application preparation including evidence gathering and filling out immigration forms.

No legal training is necessary because volunteer teams will be led by licensed attorneys.
