Description

Here’s how you can participate as an At-home Volunteer for the Spring Clean Downstream:

  • Organize safely
    • Individuals and members of the same household work together on Spring Clean projects, and encourage neighbors & community members to do the same!
    • Be sure to follow the Austin/Travis County COVID-19 guidelines. If you’re cleaning with neighbors or friends, limit group sizes, maintain social distancing, wear a mask, and be sure to stay home if you’re not feeling well.
  • Choose a Spring Clean project…or 6!
    • Litter removal—Clean up your favorite neighborhood spot(s)! Litter around your streets, sidewalks, and local areas will inevitably end up in a waterway, so this is a great way to keep our creeks, lakes, and the Texas Colorado River clean! Grab gloves, a grabber, a bag or bucket and pick a spot to pick up littered items.
    • Make and plant seed balls
    • Sustainable spring cleaning—Find out where to donate and resell unwanted or reusable items using the Austin Reuse Directory instead of recycling or throwing them away
    • Try your hand at repairing items that can be used again
    • Make your own green cleaning products with these DIY recipes
    • Reduce your water footprint by checking your home for leaks and installing water-saving devices.
  • Share with us on social media
