During the March 21st Habitat for Humanity ReStore service, my impact was supporting the daily operations of the store by helping stock and organize items, ensuring the space remained accessible and welcoming for customers. By assisting with inventory, I contributed to the ReStore’s ability to generate funds that support affordable housing initiatives in the community. Beyond the physical work, I also strengthened connections with my peers in Frosh, building teamwork and a shared commitment to service. This experience allowed me to not only give back, but also gain a deeper understanding of how Habitat for Humanity creates lasting change in communities.
Today, I had the opportunity to serve dinner at a local homeless shelter alongside a group of friends. This experience reminded me that service is not just about providing food, but about offering dignity, presence, and compassion. Sitting with individuals, making eye contact, and sharing conversation reinforced how powerful simple human connection can be. It humbled me and shifted my perspective, reminding me not to take my own stability and support system for granted. Serving in this space strengthened my commitment to showing up for others in meaningful ways and reaffirmed that small acts of kindness can create lasting impact.
Attending the service event where we made Valentine’s cards for Tiger Life was a really meaningful experience. It gave me the opportunity to connect with my peers in a relaxed, positive environment while working toward a shared goal. As we created the cards, we shared laughs and conversations, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Most importantly, it felt good knowing that something so simple could help spread love and brighten someone’s day.
I had the opportunity to pack backpacks with supplies for students. This experience was meaningful because it not only helped provide students with what they need to succeed, but it also gave me a chance to connect with my peers. Working together toward a shared goal helped build teamwork and a sense of community, which made the experience even more rewarding.
Helping students move onto campus was a rewarding experience. I was able to ease what can often be a stressful day by assisting with carrying belongings, giving directions, and helping families get settled. It felt good to know that my support made the transition a little smoother for new students. Beyond just the physical work, I enjoyed the chance to welcome them into the campus community and create a positive first impression of our university. This experience also allowed me to connect with other volunteers and reminded me of the importance of teamwork and service.

As a WOW leader, I had the privilege of volunteering during move-in, assisting new students and helping them settle into their new homes. This role allowed me to connect with incoming freshmen, supporting them as they acclimated to college life. Additionally, I strengthened connections with my peers, building a sense of community and collaboration.
While assisting students during move-in, I had the opportunity to connect with both students and their families. I remember comforting one mother by sharing how my own mom had felt scared and sad to leave me when I first started college. I reassured her that this experience would be transformative for her daughter, providing the space she needs to grow and become the remarkable woman she is destined to be.
