I love to harvest the Wild Lions Mane that grows on my property every Fall/Winter/Spring !!!
This is 'the being' that pulled me into the wonderful world of fungi. My life has not been the same since – in a very good way!
I'm always amazed at how many different wild mushrooms voluntarily pop up in my yard thru the different seasons of the year!
It's so fun to get mushroom blocks thru CTMS, then bring them home, and get the neighborhood kids (of all ages) involved in stomping the blocks everywhere we can think of doing it! Not only are we improving our native soil, but after a good rain, all the kids really enjoy looking out for the stray bunch of mushrooms growing as we walk the neighborhood!
They are learning how to ID the mushrooms, which can only be a good thing for the future!!
I also grow quite a few different mushrooms for my own medicinal purposes from mushroom spawn which I purchase.
I would really like to see every invasive ligustrum bush/tree being taken down by Turkey Tail mushrooms!!
I'm probably the only person working on that over here in my neighborhood, in The Hill Country.
But I'll never give up!!
Volunteering to distribute used blocks with CTMS has been another favorite thing my husband and I do together. We always feel like we've done something good for the world after dropping the blocks off at the volunteer houses.... [more]
