Good experience. There are so many beer cans floating in the water! Now there are fewer and that makes me happy.
I found the experience a great way to get outside and listen to nature and will definitely volunteer again.
Alternative suggestion: If this organization met more often and as a big group together instead of separate individuals spread out to all the parks, I feel like we could work a progression of areas clean more efficiently. I also feel that larger groups would create community and group cohesion, strengthening bonds and really creating awareness and motivation for people to come back. It’s good to belong to a team.
I write this as a first time volunteer with the organization, but I like activities that bring people together through the work. I did not attend the afterparty because I had other commitments so I assume there was bonding there, but for someone who couldn’t make it, there’s a challenge to get that sense of community.
I like to see organizations like this because I was shocked what I can do in an hour. They’re really encouraging folks to get out there and make an impact.
