About

Join friends and neighbors volunteering for a fun and vigorous work day in South Austin Park!  We will be collecting trash and wrenching invasive non-native plants crowding out native trees and plants and reducing biodiversity.

This event is a follow-up to the very productive Spring 2022 It’s My Park Day event in South Austin Park. Removing ligustrum and other invasive non-native plants requires ongoing monitoring for regrowth after the plants are removed.

South Austin Park is located in the Galindo neighborhood at Cumberland and South Fifth Street. The park is also home to the South Austin Recreation Center and the South Austin Tennis Center.

We will be providing tools and training, but please bring a water bottle, and work gloves if you have them. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. We will meet in the parking lot in front of the Recreation Center at 1100 Cumberland Road. In addition to the satisfaction of improving the environment in our beloved park, volunteers will get an awesome Fall 2022 It’s My Park Day t-shirt designed by local artists!
