Museum Children's Education Volunteer!

The Marietta History Center is looking for creative, organized and fun individuals to help MHC with the numerous children and families programs we offer to the public.  

Do you like crafting, books, and helping children learn?  We have a great volunteer spot for you.  Each month the Marietta History Center has a free program to the community called Pop In For Family Fun! This event has crafts and activities in the museum galleries for children and their families to enjoy. And we need your help to create and implement new and exciting crafts and activities.  Our goal is to foster a life - long love of museums for children! 

Museum hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Details for Student Volunteers: 

• Volunteers must contact MHC via email to schedule a volunteer interview at: VolunteerMMH@gmail.com.
• All volunteers are required to attend an informal in-person or virtual interview and training before shifts can be scheduled.
• All shifts are three hours in duration, Tuesday-Saturday, at 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm.
• "Double" shifts are not allowed.
• Students are expected to volunteer once a week for a at least one (1) semester, including at least one Pop-In event every 3rd Saturday, but may not volunteer more than twice in one week.
• Students must come to their interview prepared to schedule all their required shifts for the semester (15 hours=5 shifts).
• Students who are tardy, no show, or call out of a shift can request to schedule up to one makeup shift and must complete the entire 3-hour shift (even if that exceeds their required hours).
• Shifts are available on a first come, first served basis, and MHC cannot guarantee shifts. Failure on behalf of a student to plan appropriately may result in incomplete hours.
• Students must be at least 16 to volunteer.
• MHC stops being able to hold interviews or accept requests to volunteer for credit 14 days before the hours are due for submission each semester. There are no exceptions.

***The MHC Volunteer Coordinator is in office for correspondence Wednesdays-Saturdays. Communications received outside of this timeframe will be responded to when the MHC Volunteer Coordinator is back in office.***
