Stephenson Preserve Bio-Blitz!

Join the Capital Area Master Naturalists for a Bio-Blitz to help us see what species are currently at Stephenson Nature Preserve! Meet at Longview Park parking lot (7501 Longview Rd, Austin, TX 78745) at the start of the Bio-Blitz.

Observations will be taken by volunteers on each person's phone using an app call iNaturalist.  New to iNaturalist? No worries, just download and install the app on your phone and we will help you with the rest at the event. This event will fall under the City Nature Challenge 2024 Project which runs Apr 26th-29th. Your observations will automatically be included, but to see the stats for our city and get updates on the weekend’s events visit the Austin area's page at https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2024-austin.

What you need to bring:

-Fully charged phone - download the iNaturalist app ahead of time if you don’t have it already

-Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.)

-Water

-Camera, Binoculars, or Headlamp if desired

Explore the preserve to help document as many species as possible to add to the 2024 City Nature Challenge and help us gather species data about one of our favorite local preserves. This event will run slightly past sunset so we can include some nocturnal wildlife too, so if you want to be out after dark please remember to bring a headlamp/flashlight for safety! You are more than welcome to leave before sunset or any time you wish.
