Youth Justice Team

We a pushing back on criminalization of youth, police in schools, and harsh discipline practices. The stated purpose of the juvenile system is to intervene, rehabilitate, hold youth accountable, and reintegrate. Once a child is committed to DYS by a judge, they are assessed, given a treatment plan, and released. We have found that fines and fees can be extremely prohibitive and that School Resource Officers fuel the School-to-Prison Pipeline. Our youth justice team stands as a buffer between our juveniles and their jails!
