Trail of Lights with Austin Resource Recovery
In the past, the annual Trail of Lights event at Zilker Park has generated a lot of trash, recycled, and compostable material. The event will take place for a few weeks, and we are bringing back our volunteer opportunity for two nights. We are hosting 2 community cleanups to assist our compost collection program. The festival is expected to bring over 50,000 attendees. In an effort to divert the material out of the local landfill, Austin Resource Recovery is seeking volunteers to help attendees dispose material in the correct bin and manage the event collection stations. The cleanups are schedule for:
Sunday, December 14th
Thursday, December 18th
Shifts:
6:30PM- 8:00PM
7:30PM-9:00PM
What to bring: A reusable water bottle.
Please Note: Comfortable shoes and clothes are recommended. Safety equipment and collection supplies will be provided. Parking and day of details will be confirmed the week of the event.
Youth Volunteers: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Independent registrations submitted by minors are not permitted.
A NOTE ON SAFETY: We encourage you to “See and Be Seen!” Be mindful of your fellow volunteers and maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times. Dial 911 in case of emergency.
