About

The Phoenix

Overview:
The Phoenix is a national nonprofit dedicated to building sober active communities that fuel resilience, connection, and healthy living for people in recovery, those choosing a sober lifestyle, and their allies. Through hundreds of free, volunteer-led physical, social, and community events — from group fitness and yoga to hikes, social meetups, mindfulness gatherings, and creative activities — The Phoenix creates safe, stigma-free spaces where people can connect, grow, and thrive in recovery.

Volunteer Opportunity:
Volunteers help host or support Phoenix events in their community. This might look like:

  • Organizing or leading activities such as yoga classes, fitness meetups, book clubs, group hikes, meditation sessions, arts events, or recovery-focused social gatherings.
  • Supporting events by welcoming participants, helping logistics, or creating a safe, positive environment.
  • Serving as a Volunteer Community Leader in some areas, helping launch and grow local Phoenix communities, recruit volunteers, and build partnerships (a year-long role with training and support).
Volunteers typically download the Phoenix/NewForm app, attend events, complete onboarding training, and then team up to host and support activities that spread connection and healthy living.
