About
Join your neighbors and fellow park lovers as we give back at South Austin Island Park on South Congress. We’ll spend the morning spreading mulch around the 13 gorgeous Live Oak trees / pollinator beds, picking up litter, and putting in a few new native plants to help this historic green space stay beautiful. A century ago this historic site was the edge of Austin city limits and an electric streetcar turnaround. Today it’s a small neighborhood park, the only one on South Congress, which thrives from y'alls community care. We’ll meet at the east end of the park first for a safety / snack meeting. Then, with supplies and gloves provided Austin Parks Foundation we will start up work. Please bring a reusable water bottle and wear work-appropriate clothing like long sleeves / boots. We will be going as a group for drinks to a perk location to celebrate. Thanks so much for helping care for this special place on It’s My Park Day!
