Pen Friends Program - Spring 26 (January- April) - CCE-Led Projects

Pen Friends is a weekly letter exchange program that promotes literacy development in local elementary schools while giving WSU students a chance to become civically engaged. WSU students can serve as Letter Writers for the spring 2026 semester.

Letter Writers write bi-weekly letters (six letters total) to their assigned elementary pen friend for during the semester. 

In order to participate as a Letter Writer, you are required to attend one Pen Friends Orientation.  Please sign-up for one of the following Orientation dates/times. A reflection for WSU students who have participated in the Pen Friends Program this Spring Semester 2026.

Students will receive one (1.5) hour for completing orientation, and four (4) hours for completing all participation requirements (letters and reflection). If a student does not complete all participation requirements (misses 2 or more letter and/or misses reflection) they will receive ZERO (0) hours.

Participants must be willing to commit to the entire semester to write six letters and participate in an initial orientation and final reflection. Letter Writers must be physically in Pullman to drop-off and pick-up their letters located outside the CCE office in CUB L48 on the WSU Pullman Campus.  The CCE is unable to coordinate mailed or digital letters at this time.

YOU ONLY NEED TO SIGN UP FOR ONE SLOT - THIS IS A REQUIREMENT TO FINISH THE PROGRAM. IF YOU MISS THIS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR 5 HOURS.

Monday. January 26th, 4:30pm-6pm in CUE 219

Tuesday. Januray 27th,  4:30pm-6pm in Cue 219

REFLECTION:

Monday, April 13th, 4:30-6PM in TODD 120

Thursday April 16th 4:30-6PM in TODD 120
