Red Bluff invasive tree stumping & girdling

About

If you love trees and want to help our native trees at Red Bluff Nature Preserve in east Austin to be healthier, this is a great opportunity.

We will learn a technique called girdling (cutting rings around bark). We will cut and/or girdle  thin non-native trees so our native trees can grow free without being crowded out or having to compete for water & nutrients.

Because this will involve hand sawing and using sharp cutters to peel off tree bark, extra care will be required. If you have them, please bring loppers, handsaws, leather gloves and hats.

The site is open forest and fairly easy walking.

Come help out, get a good work out and burn some calories!💪
