Brought my mentee to Morehouse, gave him a tour of the campus, and got him some food
This month, in my position as Junior Director of the Rising Kings program for Destined For Greatness Outreach Youth Center, I have conducted 2 youth sessions and presided over 2 as an observer of my team and for support. I have also assisted the Senior Director of the Rising Kings and Queens in planning events during our weekly team meetings. We also had an event on the first Saturday of the month that the Rising Kings and Queens team and I organized and set up. It is a great chance to experience a leadership role and be a part of changing the lives of the men and women of tomorrow.
As a mentor this month i have talked with my mentee about college. He is in his junior year of high school, and he is still trying to figure out where it is he would like to go and do after graduation. We have talked over the phone, and I have visited him at home to talk about flight school, work, and college/ university. All in all, he wants to do what he likes but I would like him to think about it in a more realistic way, that is to say, if he wants to go to college and flight school, he is going to have to work to keep up with his life style.
Hung out w/ my mentee, got chipotle and watched lab rats. We talked about the nature of life and how to conquer certain situations.
Did another check-in, encouraging work and finishing strong in the semester w/ my mentee.
Spent time on the phone with my mentee doing a weelky check-in.
Held a zoom call w/ my mentee Ethan, encouraging work after the break. We talked about time management and creating plans to stay on top of work and not get overworked.
