Beautiful space for community to come together and work. Great to see this park utilized for growing food for the public!

This is the 4th time I've done "It's My Park" and this was the best organized of the four. I asked a question before we started and we all got a mini tour of the food forest with an explanation of what it was. Then we formed a circle and took turns introducing ourselves. One of the organizers explained the two projects and pointed out the group leaders, saying which project they were working on. We just walked over to whichever leader we wanted to work with. I chose to work on the mulching project. Our group was one of four that laid down cardboard and then tacked it into place. Then some of us hauled mulch over so the rest of us could spread it over the cardboard. The only bad part was when it started to rain, but the rain was light so we finished mulching over all the cardboard sheets. Others stayed to finish mulching around the trees but I was soaked so I left. No one criticized me for leaving at one instead of two. They smiled and thanked me.
