I really enjoyed the tour. It was my third visit to Bamberger over a span of many years. The first visit was with only a few people in the mid 90's, if I recall correctly. Then another time with a group and I remember seeing more herds of animals than on this latest visit. This tour yesterday was a perfect mix of hiking and riding in the covered trailer. I was impressed with the quality of the signing for the trees and shrubs. The Escarpment Black Cherry was the largest I've ever seen. I wasn't aware that yellow cheek warbles prefer the bark of older trees to that of the younger juniper because it's easier to pull off the strips. Also, I remembered that bats did not come to the cave in the early years, but I didn't know that they are now using the cave regularly! I loved the story of the Texas Snow Bell and the story Rusty shared about Bamberger persisting in his goal to plant them more widely than previously planned and persisting until he could share seedlings at the annual fair. It was a lovely tour. Also, the educational building is lovely. The story about salvaging the pecan trees and later using it to build the classroom is fabulous. Thank you for the enjoyable educational experience!
It was good , cold, but good. Good guide describing the preserve. Very Friendly.
