    American Red Cross

    Review:

I had a meaningful experience donating blood at the American Red Cross blood donation center. I wanted to participate because I understand how important blood donations are and how they can help people dealing with medical emergencies, surgeries, and other health challenges. It felt good knowing that I was taking part in something that could potentially make a difference in someone's life. Overall, I appreciated the opportunity to contribute to such an important cause.

    Reflection:

Donating blood gave me a different perspective on how important it is to help others, even in ways that may seem small. As someone interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, the experience was especially meaningful because it reminded me that there are many ways to support people's health and well-being outside of working directly in a medical setting. It made me realize that something one person does can have a lasting impact on someone else. I am glad I had the opportunity to contribute and be part of something that supports those in need.

    Feedback:

Overall, I had a positive experience with the American Red Cross. I appreciated having the opportunity to participate in a blood donation that supports people who may need it. I think blood donation is a great way for individuals to give back because it allows you to make a difference in someone else's life without necessarily knowing who you are helping. I would encourage others who are eligible to consider donating because it is such an important way to support the community. I would definitely be open to participating in another blood donation event in the future.

Extra hands needed at Soul Trak Outdoors

    Review:

I had a really enjoyable experience volunteering at the SoulTrak outdoor event. During my time there, I helped clean up the park by picking up trash and making sure the area was clean and welcoming for everyone. I also helped decorate the space for the Halloween season, which made the experience more fun and festive. I enjoyed being able to work with others, contribute to the event, and help create a positive environment for the community.

    Reflection:

This experience reminded me of the importance of giving back to the community and taking care of the spaces we all share. Something as simple as picking up trash and helping clean a park can make a difference in making an environment more enjoyable for everyone. I also enjoyed helping with the Halloween decorations because it allowed me to contribute to the fun atmosphere of the event. Overall, it showed me that volunteering is not just about helping people directly but also about creating and maintaining spaces where people can come together, connect, and enjoy themselves.

    Feedback:

Overall, I really enjoyed volunteering at the SoulTrak outdoor event. I liked that there were different ways to get involved, from cleaning up the park to helping decorate for Halloween. It was nice being able to contribute to both the cleanliness and appearance of the space while helping prepare for a community event. I think opportunities like this are a great way for students to become more involved in their communities while making a positive impact. I would definitely be open to volunteering at another SoulTrak event in the future.

Volunteer Opportunities at DC Central Kitchen

    Review:

I had a really good experience volunteering at DC Central Kitchen. During my time there, I helped prepare cheese and beef sandwiches, along with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Altogether, we made around 2,200 sandwiches and helped package them to be distributed to people in the community. I enjoyed being able to work hands-on with other volunteers and knowing that the time and effort we put in would help others.

    Reflection:

Volunteering at DC Central Kitchen made me realize how much of a difference something as simple as preparing a meal can make in someone's life. Knowing that we helped make 2,200 sandwiches made the experience even more meaningful because I could see how our teamwork contributed to helping so many people. It reminded me not to take everyday necessities for granted and to appreciate the opportunities I have to give back. I also learned that community service does not always have to involve doing something big. Even small actions can have a positive impact on someone else. Overall, I am glad I had the opportunity to be part of this experience, and it encouraged me to continue finding ways to serve my community.

    Feedback:

Overall, I really enjoyed this volunteer experience. Everything was hands-on, and I liked that we were able to see what we accomplished by the end of our time there. Preparing and packaging the sandwiches with everyone made the experience enjoyable while also reminding me of the purpose behind our work. I think DC Central Kitchen provides a great opportunity for students and other volunteers to get involved and make a difference. I would definitely recommend this experience to others and would love to participate again.
