    Edgewood Community Garden

I went to the Edgewood community farm. I spent my time getting rid of the out of season plants. We also helped a lot with coving soil with leaves collected around the community. Overall I really enjoyed volunteering at this farm, it is always really fun and I feel like there is always a task for me to do.

    Amierah @ Temperance Alley Garden

At the temperance alley garden I picked green beans, watered flowers around the garden, and sprayed off bugs that are harmful to the garden.

    Edgewood Community Garden

My experience at the community garden was a fun and meaningful way to get involved in the community. I had the opportunity to pick fresh peppers and tomatoes. As a biology student, this experience connected to my studies by allowing me to think about plant growth, photosynthesis, and how plants depend on sunlight, water, and nutrients to survive. I enjoyed being hands-on and participating in an activity that supports the community. This experience also helped me appreciate the hard work that goes into growing fresh produce. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the garden and was glad to be part of the experience.

Amierah @ JC Nalle Elementary School

I participated in Howard University’s Day of Service. On my service day I went to JC Nalle Elementary School and helped them set up for the upcoming school year. There were a lot of different activities to do around the school to help set up and I heard lots inspirational things from the principles and other faculty. Overall it was a very nice experience and I really enjoyed it.
