Today was a lot of fun. We built some boxes and then put canned foods by group into boxes. There was a lot of help today especially from Howard University so it went by super quickly and was very interactive. I hope the communities getting these boxes enjoy them just as much as I enjoyed helping make them. All though my hours are now done I will definitely be back in the near future because it's such an awesome environment.
Today at the Capital Area Food Bank, I helped build boxes for the geriatric donations that we were filling food for. After that my classmate and I put 3 peanut butter jars into each box. It was a lot of fun today especially because this population only gets one box a month so this is very important for them. I love that I got to make a difference, I will be back this Saturday.
At the Capital Area Food Bank I helped put mixed can fruit into food care packages. We made the packages as a team the boxes were put onto the machine and each person with a canned good or other product filled the boxes to be sent out to various places in the DC area. I really enjoyed this experience and plan to go back. I really feel like I made an impact in the DMV community.
