I absolutely loved volunteering here. The kids were so sweet and loved getting hugs and smiles from them. I will definitely have to come back!
Christmas in Wanamaker is a hometown tradition. I went un to my moms work at 8 am to help set up her booth and to help set up where I was. I was asked to volunteer with kids to make Christmas decorations and fun activities! The kids were so sweet and very creative. We were there 6pm to help take down everything and get things back to normal. It was a very exhausting and long day but seeing little kids almost all day wasn't too bad!
The kids were extremely playful today and are starting to be more interactive and not so shy!
Today a group of us went around and raked leaves in people yards!
Today I worked with the toddlers and played a lot with one of the little boys we threw the ball back and forth. I also helped decorate for the Fall Bizarre this Saturday.
Today, I decorated one of the bulletin boards and got to pick everything out so it is now fall and all ready for November! I got to see the kitchen and clean bottles, I cleaned all the kitchen toys in the toddle room and helped take down the Halloween decorations.
I learned a lot from her speech. I can not imagine being in he position that day, she informed her family of the event, she had family in that building, and had to try to stay calm. I don't know what I would've done in her place. But hearing how she handled it makes me think of what I were to do if I were ever in that situation and sadly it Is a possibility since school shootings are becoming so common. (Also, I hope I added the impact correctly, I was told if we did not live in StuWest it counted as 4 hours, and I am in Lafollette.)
Today I helped get the kids ready for snack time. I helped washed their hands and set napkins around the table. One of the little boys when I went to scoot his chair out, just hugged me and wouldn't let go it was the cutest thing ever! His brother also sat on my lap once he found toys to play with. Today was a lot of fun and pretty easy day!
