Miss Phi Beta Sigma Pageant “Born Crowned” Workshop
The purpose of this event is to expose your girl(s) to one more way of becoming active within their community, to further develop their social and networking skills, and let each and every girl know that they are “Born Crowned” and what they means and looks like for them.
As a former member of Girls Inc. in the Columbus, GA area, I was extremely excited for this event. I teamed up with some of my pageant sisters to mentor a young teenage girl on creating a mock platform and speech for something she truly cared about, as we had to do. Our mentee chose to focus on mental health protocols being more prominent in schools due to losing a friend.
She was very timid and quiet to begin, but she bloomed with confidence as she presented her passion for this platform, stepping out to Beyoncé’s “Homecoming”. This workshop reminded me of the women who impacted me as a child, and I would love to do it again.

Panther Breakaway Winter Alternative Break: Refugee Resettlement
As my first Panther Breakaway trip, this experience was truly eye opening by engaging with many different international backgrounds with the youth in Jacksonville, FL. We were in the holiday spirit and I feel I made great connections with the other volunteers through beautification and gift giving.
