Tutoring at Pecan Springs Elementary School

I ended up helping out in the library which was a fun experience. I got to help out the kids on their scavenger hunt and helped the librarian sort some book and create bookmarks.

    Big Medium Library Workday

It was so much different than I first thought it would be. It wasn't actually a library but instead it was a big warehouse filled with studios for artists. There must have been about 15 room all uniquely decorated and all containing amazing art all in different forms with painting and sculptures and little toys and even homemade dresses. I had a ton of fun with my supervisor and had a really good time organizing books, breaking down boxes, cleaning up, setting up an office, and even evaluating some art pieces.

    Volunteer at the Food Bank!

The three hours went by in a flash because I was lucky enough to be paired with a really funny guy, all we really had to do was pass out boxes of food for other volunteers to sort but we talked about his past and all the cities he has lived in and all the jobs he has worked at, super interesting guy which just shows another reason to volunteer. It's not only the work you do but the people you meet.

    Volunteer at the Food Bank!

I took the sorted food donations and placed them into categorized boxes weighing about 30 pounds each, the boxes I then wrapped stacks of the boxes and put them into the warehouse to be made ready to be distributed into the community.

    Volunteer at the Food Bank!

This time was very unique because when I went I met a UT student who goes to the Foodbank almost every weekend. I almost felt guilty because I really only go to the foodbank when I have volunteer hours to fill. Because of this I actually scheduled extra volunteer opportunities for this semester hoping that the 5 hour requirement isn't the only thing that inspires me to give back.

I did a job called expediting where I distributed the boxes of food to the tables where inspectors made sure it was fit to give to the pubic. It is always a good experience and I always learn a lot

Gave me a lot of insight on the community and just how much hunger we have in this city alone
