I enjoyed representing the University's chapter of NAACP in the Join in January involvement event. We were able to talk to multiple students about joining and about the events we have planned for the fall.

The social media marketing supervisor for City Leadership, Adam Chambers, and I went to The Compost Cabin in Memphis. We learned how this organization works to decrease food waste through composting. I volunteered by assisting in gathering content to post on Choose901's social media pages. This will allow the nonprofit to gain more following and encourage others to engage in its mission. Bailey, a representative from Atlis Organics taught our viewers and us how to safely compost and use them as a resource.
City Leadership through Choose901 hosted a Grizz Night. This is where the company invites its partners and many others who do great things for the city to, what is for most, their first grizzlies game. During this event, the team hosted a party where we game out courtside seats and other prizes. People were able to network while enjoying a new experience. I volunteered by gathering content during the event for Choose901's giving Tuesday and other campaigns the organization planned for that day.
This volunteer experience was at the City Leadership at Crosstown Concourse. On this day, Adam Chambers, the marketing supervisor, and I created content calendars for the month of November and December. Not only did we brainstorm holiday content ideas, but we strategized what content would best fit the holidays and sustain our growth for the year. We went over attainable media goals for the new year and planned content through the beginning of January.
This was my first day volunteering at City Leadership. I spent the whole day with Adam Chambers, the marketing supervisor. He started by showing the Choosee901 page and how he operates the platforms. I was able to sit in a marking content meeting. Afterward, Adam and I planned and organized content for the coming week. I began posting stories and other content on the Instagram page to get started. For the remainder of the time, I assisted Adam in desk work and content planning on their content managing app.
The Friendsgiving Tour is an annual event hosted by, famous traveling personal chef, Chef D Arthur (Desmond Robinson). The series of events is purposed to bring family and friends together to enjoy a delicious, three-course meal in an intimate setting. The events raise money for multiple charities around Memphis. My specific job was to serve multiple tables as well as clean up when the two events were over.
Doing EL interviews always excites me because it allows me to see an interview from the other side. It made me realize what an interviewer really wants to see in his/her interviewee. The kids I observed were amazing and I could honestly see most of them being emerging leaders. I am excited to see the next round of cohorts.
This day was very disappointing for me just because it made me wish I could do more for the homeless downtown. I love my city. We gave out plates of food made by women in our church. Then we prayed for those that allowed us to. I loved listening to their stories.
