I was part of the calming team for Path Interview weekend. I talked to many interviewees and had a fun time learning about their ambitions. I liked sharing my experience as a student at the University of Arkansas and giving them information.
I helped organize clothes to get shipped away.
I volunteered at the Salvation Army thrift store in Springdale, AR. I helped organize clothing to get shipped away.
I picked out clothes to get shipped away. Yellow tag clothing and clothing without tags.
The honors event that I attended was a preview lecture on the honors class "Death and Art." During this event, I learned that this class will look at art from the time periods 1300 BCE-1500 BCE in northern Europe. This class analyzes art and studies the story behind it.
I helped set out water bowls and trash cans for the event. I also cheered for the dogs as well as they strutted.
I volunteered for the Best Friends Animal Society's "Strut Your Mutt Dogwalk" event. I helped set out water bowls for the dogs and trash cans. When the event started, I cheered for the dogs running/strutting. I enjoyed volunteering at this event!
The honors event that I attended was a preview lecture of a class in Spring 2023. The class is called "The Science, Politics, and Culture of Dinosaurs." In this event, I learned about how this class will be divided into 3 categories when discussing dinosaurs. The science portion will explore modern technology and how it reveals the world that they lived in. The politics will explore the history of dinosaurs and the problems behind the people who discovered the bones. A question this class will investigate is the ethical theory behind selling dinosaur fossils that belonged to other countries. The cultural portion of the class will explore how different cultures perceive dinosaurs and how popular media portrays dinosaurs.
A few months ago, I was back in my hometown studying at a cafe called Sweet Bay. A man walked up to me and asked me if I had a few moments to listen to him talk about a petition. He told me he gets paid by the day and I don't remember the exact amount, but it made me wonder if I should start working for them too. The petition was about legalizing marijuana in Arkansas. Personally, I have no opinion on the legalization of marijuana, but I know that some people use it for pain relief and many people do benefit from it medically. Although it is currently illegal to use, people still use it anyway. I decided to sign the petition.
