I always love volunteering at BLB! During my time there I helped with pre-processing where I went through clothing donations to see if there are any stains or issues with the clothes. I also helped with sorting the clothes into various bins. Everyone is always so kind who works and volunteers there!
I really loved hearing about the various community service opportunities in our area! I particularly liked the section regarding cobblestone farms as it works to provide fresh produce to everyone in NWA. I would really love to volunteer here since I love the food donation service they are providing. I also loved how they mentioned that we would be doing hands-on activities like gardening during our volunteer service!
This information session was really helpful in teaching me about various volunteer opportunities! I learned about court side that allows volunteers to help neighbors navigate the court system. I also learned about the upcoming Arkansas legislative session which allows residents to vote on bills. Lastly I learned about the judicial equity for mental illness coalition of NWA which helps address unmet mental health needs that intersect with law enforcement. Overall, this session was extremely helpful in showing me current volunteer opportunities in my community.
This session was awesome to learn about Hub of Hope and the Ozark mission project. Hub of Hope operates to help human trafficking victims as well as raising awareness about these pressing issue. Ozark mission project also works to make meaningful impacts in the community through worship and hands on service. I really enjoyed how they talked about building connections with the families that they help as well as cooking dinner with them! Overall, it was really awesome to learn about these two organizations and how I can get involved.
During my volunteer shift I had the opportunity to do a lot of different tasks! I first started out by tagging a couple bins of clothes that were to be placed on the floor. Once I finished tagging, then I hung up each of the clothes on a rack. After all this was done I spent the last hour steaming a couple racks of clothes and making sure that each piece was ready to be placed on the floor. Overall, I had a really fun time today at beautiful lives and I always look forward to going back.
This session was awesome at making me aware of some organizations that I can volunteer at! I saw a familiar organization, beautiful lives, that I love to spend time at. This meeting also gave a lot of great benefits on becoming a member of the volunteer action center. Several benefits like professional development, social activities, and furthering education were a few. Overall, these sessions are extremely helpful at broadening my knowledge on the organizations in my community.
Today I volunteered while the boutique was super busy. I spent a lot of the day doing "go backs" which is putting back clothes after people have tried them on! Considering how busy the boutique was I spent a lot of time doing this. I also steamed some clothes towards the end of the afternoon when it slowed down. This day was really fun and I got to meet a lot of cool customers and some new volunteers as well.
It was so fun to volunteer here! During my time I steamed and sorted clothes for their spring flip that is coming up. I was also responsible for hanging clothes and tagging some of them with price tags so that they could go out on the floor.
This was so awesome to help out with. I was tasked with helping with the different booths and making sure that all the participants had a lantern. I also managed the circle of light where the survivors were able to join together in a circle and light their lantern. It was so special to witness everyone attending in support! There were also lots of food trucks there which was so fun and yummy.
