I spent some time working with a volunteer at the Husky Food Pantry for a short shift. I learned about the resources they provide, the food checkout system, and their expiration protocols. While there, I assisted in helping people check out food and cleaning the workspace.

Today, I spent time volunteering at MakerFest, an expo where people could show off interesting projects that they've made out of a variety of mediums. I helped out with logistics and event cleanup after awards were handed out, and got a chance to see all of the neat things people submitted as a part of the competition aspect. It was a super cool experience and I learned a couple new things too!
I got the opportunity to usher through Michigan Tech at the McArdle theater for the show "Proof". Through this, I scanned tickets for people coming to see the show and help guide people to open seats once the show began. Afterwards, I assisted in cleaning up the theater space. The theater staff was incredibly helpful and informative, and I thoroughly enjoyed this volunteer experience.
I helped at the Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary Reading and Archaeology night as a volunteer assistant. I spent my time setting up and helping 4th and 5th graders dig into chalk rocks to find fossils and gemstones. After helping them identify their findings, I assisted in cleaning up the space. It was a great time seeing the children get excited over the fossils and gems they found, and really enjoyed working with the elementary school staff.
Last Saturday, I spent time at the Copper Country Humane Society walking dogs and socializing cats. I had a great time helping the dogs get their energy out, and it was a nice day to be outside. After all the walking, getting a chance to hang out with the cats felt very relaxing. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely come back again.
I spent time ushering for the MTU production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. At this event, I greeted those coming to see the show and handed out programs. I had a great time working for the Rozsa and the show was very well done! I look forward to doing more ushering events.
I spent time with Sigma Phi Epsilon setting up and helping out at a Christmas party for a few local families. This event included Christmas themed activities like a Winter crossword puzzle, cookie decorating, and paper snowflake making. We concluded the event giving gifts to the children that attended. Overall, I had a great time spending time with the kids and providing a fun afternoon for them. I really enjoyed their excitement when they opened their gifts and I look forward to doing this event again.
This summer, I worked as a volunteer at a summer camp run by the American Youth Foundation. I spent the majority of my time there facilitating activities such as card games and sports to encourage a fun and inclusive environment. In addition to this, I spent time teaching youths aged 8-18 subjects important for themselves and the world they live in such as environmental stewardship, leadership principles, and reflective activities.
Overall, I had a great time working for the AYF. They have consistently provided a fun, energetic environment for children to be themselves while also maintaining a focus on leadership and creativity. Even as a volunteer, I like I was valued as a person throughout my stay by every staff member present. I felt my ideas were considered, my concerns heard, and my input respected. If given another chance, I would definitely be a volunteer for them again.
I spent time ushering for the My Fair Lady showing at the Rozsa. I spent most of my time providing useful information to guests and directing foot traffic. Good time, respectful staff, great event! I have a lot of fun ushering Rozsa events and look forward to doing it again in the future!
