APRIL DAWSON

It was fun to come up with designs for each bag.

Every Year During My Christmas Break, I volunteer with the Tumwater Police Department and help with their Annual Shop With A Cop program. This program Chooses kids from nearby elementary and middle schools in their community who aren't as financially stable. The Police Officers take them out Christmas shopping for their families and themselves and spend time with them playing games, eating candy, and wrapping all the presents they got for loved ones. This program every year is a huge event and such a good thing for the community so this year I decided to help firsthand with the planning and helping of everything before the event during this past Thanksgiving break. I attended a meeting for the event itself, Got to figure out all of the small details that need to be done before the event, plan out a schedule for things to get done, and an itinerary for the day of. This was very helpful for them because they only have so much time while they are at work to look at what needs to happen for the program because they usually do all the planning by themselves, and I really enjoyed being able to take some stress off of their shoulders and feel like I was doing more for this program to come alive and be even better than last years.
