Volunteering at Rise Up Community Farm was super interesting and engaging! We did many tasks at the farm such as harvesting and washing turnips, kales, peppers, and potatoes. The people there were all very kind and seemed genuinely invested in the work that they do, which just made the experience easier to get into as someone who’s never done that kind of work before. They were also very hard working, I really liked how they had a to-do list of tasks to work through everyday to stay organized. This experience has made me appreciate volunteer work even more because people seem to be happy doing work for no reason other than to serve their community, which is valuable to me. I learned that the Rise Up Community Farm serves their community by providing fresh grown produce and experiences for the locals to take part in awesome volunteer opportunities. Moving forward, I think working a few hours at the farm has taught me that loving what you do is more important than any other factor in a job, and I will carry that into my future life and career.
