Thank you for the Refresh! I didn't remember that we had a maximum number of 2 mini sessions we could attend.
It was nice to have a reminder of what the requirements are for promise. My feedback would be that I think it's a good thing that Promise is informing people about the difference between AS and AAS because that happened to me in my first semester, causing me to be two semesters behind.
I thought today's meeting was interesting, especially the part where we had to choose whether or not to hire the individual. The meeting was interesting and engaging thanks to the presenter.
I really enjoyed the meeting on how to improve our resumes. I was not aware that there are three different types of resumes. Based on what I learned about the three different types, I'm going to try to make my resume more functional.
It was great to meet Teyana Sackey. My take on her presentation is how to network with classmates by joining group chat. Another way to network and gain different career opportunities is by joining and attending organization fairs.
The meeting on summer internships at HNIP was very beneficial. I learned that all majors are accepted and it's open to all degrees. I have been wanting to secure at least one internship by the time I graduate in spring, which makes this a great opportunity.
It was very helpful to learn about what soft skills are and how important they are in the workplace. Most of the skills that fall under "soft skills" were skills I was aware of; however, if I would have been asked, "What are your best soft skills?" I would not know what to answer, but now I know I can answer that my best soft skills are adaptability, critical thinking, or even teamwork.
I learned what the different in cost is at PGCC and UMD. As well as learned about 3 different scholarships to apply to.
Learned a lot about how Better Than Yesterday Mentoring helps high school students. BTYM mission is to break generational cycles by equipping youth and their family with skills and knowledge. BTYM is giving STRIVE academy members the opportunity to be mentors of 11th and 12th graders.
