I created a virtual museum that teaches students about the ways past and present scientists have impacted elements of their everyday lives, from what's right in their living room to the techniques used in a hospital. There are figures that specialize in a multitude of different areas such as zoology and heart health (as we've discussed in class) to physics and programming. This process allowed me to connect how many of the topics we've learned about were likely discovered or advanced by influential Black figures such as the ones in the museum. It really encourages you to dive deeper into the history of different developments and discoveries.

I enjoyed learning about the summer biomedical research internships with the NIH available for undergraduate students. Hearing about the process and experience from current students was very insightful!

I volunteered for the evening shifts at the Columbia Heights and Penn Quarter food drives, as well as the Cleveland Park farmer's market. I enjoyed handing out warm apple cider to passersby and collecting donations for the Thanksgiving day drive. The positive interactions with marketgoers, fellow volunteers, and staff has certainly motivated me to continue volunteering with this organization!
