    Ryan @ Paws4People

My 20 hours volunteering with Paws4People gave me hands-on experience in both animal care and teamwork. I helped train puppies on basic commands, spent time playing with them indoors and outdoors, and supported their development by bringing them into the stimulation room. I also assisted with daily tasks such as feeding, cleaning up after the dogs, doing laundry, washing dishes, and mopping floors. These responsibilities showed me how much effort goes into maintaining a well-run organization.

I learned that Paws4People’s mission is to train dogs to become assistant dogs for individuals with disabilities. This made the work feel meaningful, as even simple tasks contributed to a larger purpose. I noticed that staff and volunteers worked closely together, communicating and stepping in to help one another when needed. Problem-solving often involved teamwork, especially when managing energetic puppies or keeping the environment clean and organized.

This experience connected to my values of responsibility, compassion, and helping others. It also showed me how strong leadership and organization are essential in achieving a mission. Overall, volunteering here has influenced my interest in business and leadership by highlighting the importance of teamwork, clear goals, and making a positive impact on the community.
