The foodbank is a great place to volunteer. The atmosphere around this time is great because a lot of people were dressed up for Halloween and we also played trivia while we sorted the produce. I have volunteered here a couple times before and it is always a relaxing and fun place to volunteer, especially if you go with a couple friends or a group. This time at the foodbank we sorted sweet potatoes into 10 pound bags. I worked with a couple people who were also at the foodbank for our BUS206 community service requirement and we worked together by some of us sorting the potatoes and others making the bags to put the potatoes in. This experience makes me feel like I am giving back to the community. I feel like I spend a lot of time focusing on myself in college so it is a nice change to help give back to our community. I learned that the foodbank receives their produce on pallets which are donated by local farms and then it is up to the volunteers to sort the produce into bags that can be distributed into the community. It should be a requirement of a corporation to give back to the community and this really inspired me to keep doing this in the future.
