Science Children's Books

Writing my own kids science book on photosynthesis was a good refresher on the topic. It also required a lot of critical thinking because I had to find a way to make the book understandable to kids while still relaying correct information as to what photosynthesis is. It was also fun to bring out my creative side in terms of animating my book and finding a good layout that would cater to my audience. Biology 102 taught us about photosynthesis, the process by which plants, algae, and some bacteria convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of glucose. Writing a kids' book on the topic requires a deep understanding of this process to convey it accurately and understandably to children which I was able to do through the information I learned in this course.

This volunteer orientation was a very eye-opening experience. It taught me a lot of things about medical safety and infection control. It also refreshed my memory on a lot of different topics like the importance of washing your hands and sanitizing as well as always wearing the necessary PPE when being exposed to certain illnesses and viruses. It also broke down a lot of the hospitals control teams and the different processes that happen in the event of an emergency.
