Creating a children's science book was both challenging and fulfilling. I thought of an topic that children can learn more about, in a fun and interactive way that would cater to their ability to understand and learn a new topic related to science. I thought of photosynthesis would be the perfect topic that the book could be focused on, and I made it to where I turned this complex topic to simple terms but still in depth so the children can still learn a new science topic as well as being entertained by the illustrations. I thought it was a tad challenging finding simply words to explain how photosynthesis worked, and how to create a storyline explaining what photosynthesis is. But after figuring the right execution, the storyline turned out perfect. Reflecting back to this service learning assignment really inspired me to consider maybe creating more children's books in the future. This was a such a fun and interactive way of doing service, especially for children and their learning. I really enjoyed myself creating the book with all of the fun illustrations and loved how my children's book turned out at the end. Once the book was written and illustrated, turning it into a audio book added a new layer of excitement to this service. I am extremely happy that I decided to do this as my service learning, as I utilized a biological topic we learned from the past two semesters and created a children's book so others can learn as well.
