During the meeting, we discussed upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and ways members can become more involved in cybersecurity initiatives such as competitions and outreach programs.
We discussed executive board roles and responsibilities, upcoming events, and expectations for member participation. We reviewed action items for officers, including meeting planning, event promotion, and event preparation. Ideas were shared to make meetings more interactive, such as adding games and educational slides on cybersecurity topics. We also addressed funding limitations for general meetings and discussed exploring alternative options.
During the WiCyS general meeting, we welcomed new members and discussed upcoming events, including NCL training sessions and pre-conference volunteer opportunities. We also announced the WiCyS Conference taking place March 11–13 at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort and Convention Center in Washington, DC. The importance of timeliness, increased member participation, and making meetings more interactive through videos and games was emphasized. After the meeting was adjourned, I met with the executive team for additional minutes to continue discussions on the meeting.
I helped set up the club board and added candy and refreshments for students. I spoke with new students interested in joining the club and shared information about upcoming opportunities. We connected and networked with them while inviting them to attend our first general meeting. Interested students signed into our database and followed our Instagram and Discord to stay updated.
The executive team met to create the board for the club fair. I reviewed all information, icons, and QR codes to ensure everything was accurate and corrected. We went to the library to print all materials, then organized, cut, and pasted them onto the board. After receiving the finalized information, we decorated the board and prepared it for the club fair.
I was refeshed on the scholarship, the requiements, and who i can contact if i need help.
I was able to attend a learning session and learn how to continue a positive recovery program, whether it involves restraints, information on the bookstore, tutoring, or future sessions. We were able to ask questions and find ways to do our best this semester.
Watching the game gave me a deeper appreciation for the dedication athletes put into their sport. Seeing my peers work so hard on the court, balancing athletics with academics, was motivating. It made me realize the importance of discipline, communication, and resilience in achieving success—not just in sports, but in life. This experience also allowed me to connect with my school community and foster a sense of pride in supporting my classmates. It was more than just a game; it was a moment of unity and encouragement.
