Braylon Jones

Participating in jazz band performances for events like Taste of CBHS and the CBHS Hall of Fame allowed me to see music as more than just a skill, it became a way to represent my school and connect with a wider community. Performing in churches and formal events required a higher level of professionalism, awareness, and adaptability than a typical rehearsal or concert. I had to be mindful not only of my own playing, but of how the group sounded as a whole and how our performance was being received by different audiences.

This experience also reinforced the importance of consistency and preparation. Unlike a classroom setting, these performances had real audiences and real expectations, which pushed me to take rehearsals more seriously and hold myself accountable. I began to understand that being part of an ensemble means contributing to something larger than myself, where every individual effort affects the overall result.

Overall, these performances helped me grow as both a musician and a representative of CBHS. I learned how to carry myself in professional settings, work more effectively within a group, and use my abilities to positively impact others.

I decided to group together all the jazz band gigs over the past 2 weeks into 1 impact rather than 6 separate ones

After taste of cbhs i had to pick up trash that was left throughout the event and also playmy instrument with the jazz band and sing with the theater

Whether it was packing boxes, distributing food, or staying behind to clean up afterwards, I tried not to think about me but about the people we were serving. It felt great knowing I was doing something that would actually make a difference and that meant something, no strings attached.

I did like being ther can doing what i was but i do still feel like i had to be there and i feel like i could have been of more use at a different service oppertunity
