Padrón Campus - Creative Arts Club

Participating in the Designers Studio session on January 30 was both enjoyable and rewarding. Alongside The Creative Arts Club of Padron Campus, I helped lead a graphic design activity where students explored how visual elements can communicate ideas in creative ways. We guided them step by step, showing how choices in composition, color, and arrangement could turn simple materials into thoughtful and expressive designs. It was exciting to see their attention and curiosity grow as their concepts began to develop. Even though they were all working within the same general prompt, each student brought a personal perspective through their use of color, layout, and detail. The activity showed how accessible and engaging design can become when students learn by creating. It also reminded me how valuable creativity is in education and how meaningful it feels to help young learners make something with their own hands.

Participating in the Designers Studio Session Planning on January 16 was both enjoyable and deeply fulfilling. Alongside The Creative Arts Club of Padron Campus, I helped lead a session where students learned how to create their own origami pavilions. We walked them through the folding process step by step, demonstrating how basic paper manipulations can produce imaginative architectural forms. It was inspiring to watch their concentration and enthusiasm grow as their structures began to take shape. Although they all started from the same design concept, each student brought something personal to the work through their choice of colors and thoughtful attention to detail. This activity showed how hands-on learning can make design both approachable and engaging for young students. It also reminded me how important creativity is in education and how meaningful it can be to help children create something with their own hands.

    Designer Studio-Session planning

Participating in the Designers Studio Session Planning on April 4 was a fun and rewarding experience. Together with The Creative Arts Club of Padron Campus, I helped facilitate teaching students how to build their own origami pavilions. We guided them through the step-by-step folding process, showing them how simple paper folds can achieve creative architectural forms. Seeing their focus and interest grow as they developed their buildings was exciting. Even though they were working on the same design idea, each infused a little of themselves with their colors and careful attention to detail. This lesson was a great example of how hands-on learning can bring about design in an accessible and enjoyable way for young learners. It made me appreciate how critical creativity in school is and how amazingly powerful it can feel to help kids do something using their hands.

    Designer Studio-Session planning

Participating in the Designers Studio Session Planning on February 7, alongside The Creative Arts Club of Padron Campus, was a fun and meaningful experience. I had the opportunity to help teach 5th-grade students how to create their own logos, guiding them through design basics and encouraging them to express their ideas visually. It was inspiring to see how eager and creative the students were and how quickly they picked up on concepts like symbolism, color choice, and shape. Working with them reminded me of how significant early exposure to the arts can be in helping young minds grow in confidence and imagination. Being part of this collaborative event allowed me to share what I’ve learned. It gave me a fresh perspective on how design can empower people of all ages to communicate their identities and passions uniquely.

Jose @ 2025 Life Time Miami Marathon, Half Marathon, and Tropical 5K

Volunteering at the 2025 Life Time Miami Marathon was a marvelous and unforgettable experience. I worked for five hours as a runner assistant in registering runners, packet pickup, answering questions, and escorting participants through setup. It was exciting to talk with people from around the globe, with their energy, stories and hopes for the event. As a member of that first point of contact, I was contributing to setting the tone for their race day. I became more appreciative of the behind-the-scenes work that makes such a colossal event possible. I was glad to be a part of the spirit of community and support that pervades the marathon. While I was not a part of the race, I was inspired by the dedication of the runners and energized by the positive atmosphere.
