Devyn-Shaelei @ Pine Crest Elemenntary School

This was a volunteer opportunity to chaperone students on a field trip to the zoo. I assisted with lunch, bus scheduling, and when we returned back to the school I assisted with a classroom activity that involved the students telling their favorite part of the trip and what was something new they learned.

GROW: Personal & Professional Growth through Education & Enrichment (mini-session)

I loved the presentation that was given. I believe that personal growth is something that can either be planned or a natural achievement. I also learned that you should take different opportunities when they arise because you never know where life can take you and how fast you could accomplish your goals.

    Devyn-Shaelei @ WOW Tacos & Tutors

This was the last tutoring session of the semester and it was really nice. I love how everyone I attend one of these meetings I meet someone new and learn something about a future course I may need to take.

I also appreciate how I can take the time to have a quiet setting and complete work and decompress.

The Blueprint for Success - Resume Workshop (mini session)

Great mini session. I learned what to put on my resume such as experiences that are related to the job you are applying for or list achievements and classes to show you have knowledge if you have no previous experience. I also learned that the small details matter, which include the font used in your resume, text size,
    no graphics, etc.

Tacos & Tutoring (WOW participants only)
You Are What You Eat (WOW participants only)

This was my first time attending one of these events. Overall the speaker Leslie was great. Her presentation kept me engaged and interested throughout the entire call. I would definitely recommend a friend to attend this event even if it is not the same speaker because any advice from a nutritionist is helpful. You may learn something new that you had no idea about, like me. This meeting also helped me understand the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle on a different level. So I definitely will be incorporating new habits into my daily routine.

Tacos & Tutoring (WOW participants only)

Great session with the other ladies that attended. I had a great time meeting and connecting with other ladies on personal life and school life. Definitely would recommend to my friends who aren’t apart of WOW to join so they can attend Tacos and Tutors!

    Refresh Spring 25 meeting

Great meeting for the kickoff of spring semester. This meeting was exactly what it said it was. A refresh. Topics that were mentioned in the fall recap meeting were discussed again and clarified which included how to use give pulse, how to view financial aid, academic requirements, and program requirements.

To me, this meeting was helpful and also a kind reminder to always check my email, and to ask questions in advance so that I am not behind in any type of academic responsibility.

    End of Year Semester Meeting

During the End of Year Semester meeting, I learned about how to properly check my account balance, while on winter break I should still be checking my email daily for updates or changes, and to communicate any issues that I discover as soon as possible to prevent a delay in registration or funding. I also learned that at the start of the new semester in 2025, as a Promise Scholar I am responsible for attending at least 2 of the 5 mini sessions that will be held and to actively participate during those sessions.

Overall, this meeting was valuable and the Kahoot that we played was a good way to ensure that students understand the new upcoming requirements for SSP and how to navigate their student portal.
