It was incredible to be back at Raising Expectations after some time! It was great to jump back into volunteer work by counting up the CREED Logs (Behavior Point Trackers) for the DREAM students. After counting them, I replaced the CREED log trackers for each student and organized the old logs into the file where all logs for the year are kept.

Today at MASTERS, the 2nd graders were tasked with building a strong, tall tower using only spaghetti noodles and tape, which had to hold a regular-sized marshmallow on top without the tower falling over. Sadiq and Rhythm worked together on this task and learned the value of planning, brainstorming, and teamwork. In the end, their tower won the challenge!

Another incredible day at MASTERS! Worked with Sadiq in 2nd grade to graph his name and count how many squares made up each letter in his name. Sadiq is brilliant and was able to use repeated addition for each row of squares that filled his name to find the total number of squares in his name. He will do great with multiplication next year.

For my second session at Raising Expectations, I helped file our leaderboards (behavior point system) and aided in cleaning/organizing the office. Ultimately, my time today helped ensure that the office of Raising Expectations, as well as the teachers, were organized and had a clean space for a great upcoming week of service to the kids.

It was so incredible to be back in Raising Expectations since my first semester this past Spring. I jumped right into volunteering by refilling food cubbies/snack containers for the students this upcoming week, stapling assignment packets together, and creating binder levels to help keep papers organized. Great to be back!

I had an incredible time volunteering with Nothing But the Truth for their "Back to School" event supporting elementary through high school students in the Gwinnett area. Working alongside Ms. Williams was a fantastic opportunity to mentor younger students on setting boundaries, managing stress, and balancing extracurriculars with academics. A big thank you to Nothing But the Truth for the amazing work they do for our community, and for the opportunity to give back!

    Raising Expectations

Loved serving Raising Expectations as a volunteer by working on the administrative side of the organization, supporting the classrooms and volunteers that work with the kids during the week! Helped file Creed Logs, prepare experiments for the upcoming week, and redo learning target walls/responsibility charts in DREAM Classroom. Exposed to the other side of volunteering, and appreciated all work that goes into supporting the next generation.
