Being a SpelBound sister was such a full-circle moment! I loved being able to give advice to my spelbabies and reflect on my experience as a freshman so far. It really was a perfect way to end the semester.
On April 25, I served as a volunteer photographer for research day at Spelman. It was a truly inspiring experience getting to see and capture work from seniors and other fellow Spelmanites because it helped me see how unique and dedicated everyone is here and how I could be part of Research Day in the future.
On March 22, I volunteered with The Next IT Girl at the Atlanta Science Fair. My main job was to capture photos and videos, post them on social media, and facilitate activities for visitors at our booth. Attached is a selfie of me at the science fair and some of the photos I took!
Three other girls and I volunteered to do meal prep at the Salvation Army to benefit individuals experiencing homelessness. This was my first time working in food service, and it was a new and exciting experience! We switched stations during men's and women's dinners, which were at separate times, so I started out cutting steaks with my friend Amaya to prep for dinner the next day; then, for the second half, I was helping put together plates to serve assembly-line-style with the other girls. I thought it was really fun to do service in a group setting, and it was relaxing to be able to work with my hands. I also loved how helpful and willing to teach the Salvation Army staff were.
