I volunteered Saturday morning with The Miracle League of Wilmington. This was my second time with Miracle League, with my first being last fall when I came and volunteered for the full 2 and a half hours. We had the opportunity to help with outfielding and cheering on the athletes as they competed in a game of baseball. I went with two friends, and I thought it was interesting how, even though we had no relation to anyone playing or coaching in the game, we became so involved in it, and we were passionate about cheering on the athletes and making sure that they all had a good time. I enjoy watching sports, so being able to work this closely with a volunteer sports league was fun for me, and while some volunteering experiences may seem like chores, I would say that I actually enjoyed my time volunteering. While this was only my second time with Miracle League, I plan on going again in the future, hopefully on a day when it is a little warmer and there are no cancellations due to bad weather. We did not get a very thorough explanation of how the league works or how the teams are chosen, which would have helped us better understand the game because it was a slightly modified version of baseball.
