I attended the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC in Wilmington NC. I took part in going through collared greens, making sure I saved the fresh greens. I went through each individual bundle and threw away the moldy ones in a bucket. We packed over 200+ greens, making a big impact on the food bank. I realized that working with people I didn't know made a big impact on me. As we were going through the greens I had the opportunity to have some conversations with one of the special ed kids from Cape Fear. Although going through collared greens is not the most exciting thing, laughing and talking with him made the task go by way faster. It made me realize that sometimes not everything you do is the most exciting, but when you are able to meet people at a place where you are making a impact matters. The organization made me realize that I am truly blessed with what I am given in life and I shouldn't take it for granted. Being able to help people who might not be able to afford a meal makes me feel very grateful.
