Today was another enrichment day for the program, before I worked one-on-one with students to complete their homework for the week along with having some conversations to motivate them to stay on task and ready for class throughout the week. I spent the rest of time pulling grades for DREAM and making sure that they were up to date for this week.
Today I spent time with DREAM, throughout our engagement today we checked their grades, reinforced the importance of creed logs, and also read an article on Monique Knight the CEO of Comprehensive Family Care, an organization that focuses on the mental well-being of individuals. Throughout this activity we decoded words and allowed the student to elaborate on what each term meant to them, along with letting them read aloud and analyze each paragraph. to understand the importance of Knight and how she is influential to people each and everyday.
Overall, today's service was one of my favorites. I love to see the students think critically and apply what they are learning to their own lives. Seeing the imperativeness of doing right by others in moments like today shows personal and emotional growth throughout their time at RE.
Today was enrichment day for the RE. I started off in DREAM and transitioned to Umizoomi where they spent time playing games, then the boys worked on sewing, while the girls worked on nails. This was my first time working with these groups of kids, I throughly enjoyed it and can't wait to return!
Today I was in DREAM, initially they worked on Edmentum completing two full assignments, then we did some 1-on-1 game time, transitioning into an experiment that focused on the p-h balance of sand, soil, and a "mystery dirt" to see which one was the most acidic. Lastly, we ended with outside time and post snack. Overall today was interesting and I can't wait to see what next week holds.
Today I spent time in both dream and stemware. In dream I worked 1-on-1 with a couple of students and also checking their Infinite Campus along with their Edmentum. In stemware we did an activity for enrichment that was centered around focused photography; we made sure to get different angles, crop, and edit our images to give off an allusion of something we were trying to project.
Overall, today was interesting working amongst the two groups as I learned a lot and can't wait to see what the rest of the semester holds!
On this day we spent time going over proteins. complex carbs, and simple sugars, so the students could pick out what they wanted to plant. In this, we wanted to identify healthier options when choosing food choices. We also just had 1-on-1's and acknowledging the needs of each student.
