This was a different experience than I’m used to. Today we put food and drinks in boxes, but we boxed and pushed the boxes along a conveyer belt. This resulted in us quickly putting in our assigned items and pushing the boxes along down the belt to the person beside us. I had good conversation with the other volunteers. These conversations ranged from the gospel of Jesus Christ, sports and where M&T Bank is located and their different branches. There were other Howard students, employees at M&T Bank and other volunteers from community volunteering today. The results for the day was 500 boxes filled with food and drinks, building and taping the bottom of 500 boxes, and setting up the work for the next group of volunteers to work after us. I enjoyed my time once again, and I look forward to staying in contact with CAFB next semester!

I loved my time at Capital Area Food Bank. I did my third volunteering event with them last Wednesday. I met more people from the DMV, talk about Thanksgiving and built a better relationship with the employees of the Capital Area Food Bank. I even got a ride to the Metro station from one of the managers. I definitely look forward to volunteering more next semester.
This was my second time volunteering at Capital Area Food Bank. This time had less people volunteering than last time, but I still had great conversation with the other volunteers. We were wiping off the condensation off of the milk cartons, and sticking label stickers on the cartons. Then, we placed the cartons in crates and stacked them on a platform, ready to be wrapped in plastic wrap and taken away by a forklift. The volunteer coordinator taught me how to wrap the crates, and I was able to do it by myself. This was another great experience here, and I have gained more trust from those at Capital Area Food Bank.
I really enjoyed my time at Capital Area Food Bank. This was my first time volunteering and crazy enough the company "Enterprise Rent-A-Car" was volunteering with me at the same time. Our task was to sort the many different types of foods present into their respective boxes. The volunteer director of Capital Area Food Bank was pleased with our diligent, quick and precise work. I was able to have many great conversations with my fellow volunteers. The conversations spanned from topics of sports medicine to our personal relationships with Jesus Christ. After my shift I talked to the Capital Area Food Bank's employees and had great conversation about personal life, and when I could come back to volunteer. I look forward to volunteering again.
