I had the opportunity to help out during Health and Human Sciences Week at North Carolina A&T State University Community Health Fair. I was paired with the Prostate Health Education Network, where we assisted guests with sign-in and helped them in any way they needed. It was a great experience being able to support the community and contribute to such an important event.
During the Backpack Beginning service, I helped bag items for shoppers, making sure their supplies were organized and easy to carry. I also returned any extra materials once they were no longer needed to keep the workspace clean. Along with that, I put away clothing and other donated items so everything stayed neat and easy to find. Overall, the experience taught me how important organization and teamwork are in keeping a welcoming environment for everyone who comes in for support.
We created encouraging cards to place on top of the food boxes and then distributed them throughout downtown Greensboro. It was a meaningful experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to give back to the community and uplift others through service. I’m grateful for the chance to be part of something that truly makes an impact.
I had a great experience with Aggie Source. Being able to help assist a great thing that students on campus benefit from is truly inspiring!
We played a balloon and pool noodle game with the residents and they thoroughly enjoyed it and so did I! I can’t wait to go back and see them again!
Volunteering at the Family Room was a great experience. I learned a lot about their organization and how much they care about helping families in need. They worked hard to provide clothes and other essentials for families, and it felt good to be a small part of that. During my time there, I helped sort clothes to make it easier for them to be ready and available for families. It was a simple task, but I could see how it made a big difference. Organizing the clothes helped the staff and volunteers get things out more quickly, which meant families could get what they needed faster. I enjoyed the experience. It felt good to give back and be involved in something meaningful. I also gained a better understanding of how important it is to support local organizations that are doing good work in the community.
